About the Role

Assistant Mechanic The City of Converse is looking for a skilled, hands-on Assistant Mechanic to help keep our fleet

safe, reliable, and mission-ready. Under the direction of and reporting to the City Mechanic and/or the Director of

Public Works, the Assistant Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and inspection of automotive and construction

equipment to determine the appropriate corrective action. He or she performs or assists in major and minor maintenance

and repair of city fleet equipment, including but not limited to major engine overhauls. The Assistant Mechanic performs

tune-ups, alignments, adjustments, and minor and major brake overhauls; replaces and repairs transmissions and
